MINNEAPOLIS - The NIACC baseball team swept Century College Friday night in a nonconference twinbill at US Bank Stadium, the home of the Minnesota Vikings.
NIACC (5-2 overall) won the opener 2-0 and took the second game 13-4.
The shutout by the Trojans in the opener was the first in the Drew Sannes era and the first since the Trojans blanked the Luther College Junior Varsity on May 6, 2019.
In the first game, Nic Nelson drove in two runs with a single in the third inning for the only two runs of the game.
Nick Lemmon and Johnny Czeslawski combined to toss a four-hit shutout. Lemmon gained the win by going three innings and allowing three hits with four strikeouts.
Czeslawski pitched the last four innings allowing one hit with three strikeouts.
In the second game, NIACC pounded out 12 hits to score its 11 runs. The Trojans scored two runs in the first inning, pushed across three runs in the third inning and four runs in the seventh inning.
The Trojans also scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
NIACC's Mason Nadolney was 4 for 4, including two home runs, with three runs scored and 5 RBIs.
It was the first time a NIACC player hit two home runs in a game since Will Sturek hit two against Redlands CC in the second game of a doubleheader on March 7, 2020.
Also for the Trojans in game two, Coby Tweten was 3 for 4, including a double, and scored three runs. Nic Nelson hit a two-run home run and Ben Tallmen drove in two runs.
Collin Kramer gained the win for the Trojans. He allowed two runs on two hits in three innings of work with three strikeouts and three walks. Gino Cozzi pitched the final four innings allowing two runs on four hits with six strikeouts and one walk.
NIACC is slated to open its ICCAC season at home on Wednesday with a doubleheader against Iowa Central. The first game at Roosevelt Stadium is set to start at noon.
