The Trojans dominated the first half by taking an 18-7 lead and outgaining Harper 263-125. Tank Corner, Shawn Kastelic and Ron Wylie all scored rushing touchdowns for the Trojans in the first two quarters.
"This is one of those sweet things the kids will always remember about NIACC," NIACC coach Dick Ramsey was quoted as saying in the Globe Gazette after the game. "I'm so proud of these guys. These sophomores - they just made us proud today."
Corner rushed for 112 yards and scored a touchdown - something he did in all 20 games he played at NIACC. Wylie rushed for 110 yards as the Trojans piled up 225 yards on the ground.

CEDAR FALLS - Harper College evened the score in bowl games against the NIACC Trojans.
A year after dropping a 18-15 decision in the RC Cola Bowl to the Trojans, Harper took advantage of four NIACC turnovers to claim the 11-point bowl victory.
Sophomore quarterback Shawn Kastelic completed 12 of 41 passes for 240 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. Kastelic tossed a 68-yard scoring strike to Walter Williams for the Trojoans' lone touchdown in the first quarter.
In two bowl games, Kastelic threw for 407 yards and one touchdown. Williams caught 10 passes for 179 yards in two bowl games and Stacy Jeter caught seven passes for 142 yards in his two bowl games.
"We just didn't have the same intensity as we did a year ago," NIACC coach Dick Ramsey was quoted as saying in the Globe Gazette after the bowl game. "I think Harper remembered last year when we beat them 18-15 and they came here on a mission."

It was a milestone day for the NIACC football team.
NIACC scored 29 points in the second quarter and cruised to a 43-20 victory over Harper College in the RC Cola Bowl.
It was the Trojans' school record 10th victory of the season and the 50th career win for NIACC coach Dick Ramsey.
NIACC (10-1) spotted Harper a 6-0 lead after the first quarter, but the Trojans responded with 29 points in the second quarter and the rout was on.
The big play in the second quarter was a 74-yard scoring strike from quarterback Richard Lowery to speedy receiver MarTay Jenkins.
"Man, I just threw it eight or so yards," Lowery was quoted as saying in the Globe Gazette after the game, "and he did the rest. As soon as he broke away from that guy - he was gone."
Lowery completed 9 of 19 passes for 159 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions.
The 10 wins by the Trojans broke the previous high-water mark of eight by the 1990 Trojans, who claimed the school's first-ever bowl victory. The Trojans were No. 9 in the final NJCAA poll.

The Trojans (8-2) received second-half touchdowns from Corey Williams, Adrian Culler and Marquis Thompson but came up two points short of picking up the school's third bowl victory.
NIACC started the 1995 season 0-2 but strung together eight straight wins to earn its fourth bowl appearance.
"As I told the kids after that 0-2 start, 'we're at a crossroads.' I told them at halftime that we're at a crossroads. We've got to make a decision on which direction we're going to go. Again, the kids responded positively and they went the right direction."
Williams led the NIACC ground attack by rushing for 144 yards on 36 carries, including a 33-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Adrian Culler gained 86 yards on 22 carries, including a 9-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

CEDAR FALLS - NIACC won its third bowl game in the most dramatic fashion.
The Trojans topped Rochester CC 13-7 in double overtime when long snapper Nate Von Behren, who also played linebacker, returned a fumble seven yards for a touchdown.
In the second overtime, Tim Morrow's game-winning field goal attempt fell short. Rochester's Kyle Kirkeby began running with the missed field goal attempt and fumbled.
Von Behren scooped up the fumble and returned it for a touchdown and the walk-off bowl victory.
"The way that ended, that was just unbelievable," NIACC coach Dick Ramsey was quoted as saying in the Globe Gazette after the game. "I've never seen an ending quite like that."
Besides scoring the game-winning touchdown, Von Behren led the Trojans with 16 tackles.
After losing games in October to Waldorf and Ellsworth, the Trojans (8-3) closed the season with three straight wins over NDSCS, Rock Valley and the thrilling bowl win over Rochester CC.
