NIACC women knock off previously unbeaten Tritons, 78-63
FORT DODGE - The NIACC women's basketball team knocked off previously unbeaten Iowa Central 78-63 Wednesday evening in an ICCAC contest.
NIACC, which has won three straight games over Iowa Central, moved its overall record to 8-3 and evened its ICCAC mark at 1-1. Iowa Central fell to 8-1 overall and 1-1 in the league.
NIACC held a narrow 42-41 lead at halftime and the Trojans outscored the Tritons 17-9 in the third quarter. The Trojans increased their final margin of victory to 15 points by outscoring the Trojans 19-13 in the final 10 minutes.
Freshman Madison Hillman led the Trojans with 18 points and 11 rebounds. It was Hillman's second double/double of the season as she had a triple/double against Black Hawk College-Moline on Nov. 4 at the Konigsmark Klassic with 17 points/13 rebounds and 10 blocked shots.
Tori Miller and Keeley Steele also scored in double figures for the Trojans Wednesday. Miller scored 13 points and Steele scored 12 points.
NIACC's Lilly Radcliffe scored seven points with six rebounds and two assists. Alexis Schroeder scored seven points and collected four steals.
The Trojans' Keiara Anderson scored nine points with three rebounds, two assists and one steal.
NIACC returns to action Saturday at home against No. 7 (NJCAA Division II) Iowa Western (9-1, 1-0). The Reivers opened league play with a 65-61 win Wednesday against Northeast CC.
