Castle leads NIACC men at Buena Vista Fall Invite
STORM LAKE - Sophomore Tim Castle shot his second consecutive 75 to lead the NIACC men's golf team on the first day at the Buena Vista Fall Invitational Saturday at the BVU Golf Course at Lake Creek.
Castle also shot a 75 on Monday at the Iowa Central Fall Invitational at the Fort Dodge Country Club. The 75s are one off Castle's career best of 74, which was at the 2022 Buena Vista Fall Invitational.
Castle tied for eighth at the 2022 Buena Vista Fall Invitational with a 78-74 - 152.
On Saturday, Castle shot 41-34 - 75.
"I love the effort of Tim Castle (Saturday)," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "He was 5-over on the front nine and then birdied three of the first four holes on the back.
"Tim's a great leader for the squad. Now, the others need to pick up their games."
Also for the Trojans on Saturday, sophomore Elic Fjetland shot 38-44 - 82, sophomore Anders Palmquist shot 44-40 - 84, sophomore Jackson Koebernick shot 46-40 - 86 and sophomore Mitchell Staudt shot 46-44 - 90.
NIACC shot a team total of 327.
"We are really struggling overall as a team at the moment," Frenz said. "I can't really put my finger on what's going on, because the effort is there. We're just not getting the results."
Day two of the Buena Vista Fall Invitational is set for Sunday.
"We'll tee it up (Sunday) and look forward to posting our best score of the season," Frenz said.
