MASON CITY - The NIACC baseball team climbed back to the .500 mark with a 5-3 win over Marshalltown CC on Tuesday afternoon at Roosevelt Field.
NIACC (18-18 overall) scored two runs in the fourth inning, one in the fifth inning and plated two more in the sixth inning of the nine-inning, non-conference contest.
Sophomore Fox Leum hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning. It was Leum's 10th home run of the season, which leads the ICCAC).
Leum now has 18 career home runs, which ranks seventh on the school's all-time career list.
Jake Christianson (1-0) picked up the win in relief for the Trojans. He pitched two innings allowing one run on three hits. He also struck out three and did not walk a batter.
NIACC's Michael Sturek, who struck out one and walked two, pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his fourth save.
NIACC returns to action Friday and Saturday in a four-game ICCAC series at Iowa Lakes.
