Both NIACC indoor track teams ranked 19th in initial poll
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's and women's track and field teams are both ranked 19th in the initial rankings by the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association.
The NIACC men are ranked 19th with 47.35 points and the NIACC women are ranked 19th with 42.66 points.
Iowa Central is No. 1 in the men's rankings with 574.92 points and the Iowa Central women are ranked No. 1 with 378.40 points. The Iowa Western men are No. 3 with 238.85 points and the Iowa Western women are fourth with 198.43 points.
For the NIACC men, Imad Amenzou is ranked fourth in the 800 (1 minute, 56.38 seconds) and 24th in the 600 (1:24.79). Also for the Trojans, the distance medley relay team is ranked fourth (10:40.12), Jose Aguilera is 17th in the 1,000 (2:40.18) and Zach Freund is 22nd in the 1,000 (2:44.05) and Jacob Day is 18th in the mile (4:31.51).
For the NIACC women, Sola Stephenson is third in the pentathlon (2,780 points), 13th in the 800 (2:31.62) and 9th in the 600 (1:45.18). The 4x800-meter relay team is third (10:58.23).
Also for the Lady Trojans, Steinunn Atladottir is tied for 18th in the triple jump (10.54 meters) and 21st in the long jump (5.27 meters). Kendra Schmidt ranks 17th in the 1,000 (3:31.98), Jordan Lane is 20th in the 1,000 (3:36.33) and Maribel Zamago is 20th in the 600 (1:45.52).
The NIACC track teams return to action Friday at the Jack Jennett Invitational on the University of Northern Iowa campus in Cedar Falls.
