6 Lady Trojans earn all-region honors
MASON CITY - Six NIACC women's soccer players earned all-NJCAA Region XI Division II honors in the 2021 spring season.
NIACC freshman Celine Witt and Kailah Thompson both earned first-team all-region honors. Witt, a forward, led the Lady Trojans with five goals and one assist and Thompson, a midfielder, collected four goals with one assist.
The Lady Trojans' Sophia Gebl and Pamela De Armas Colombo earned second-team all-region honors and Katie Cooling and Mara Makowka earned honorable mention all-region honors.
Gebl, a sophomore midfielder, scored four goals with two assists. De Armas Colombo, a keeper, averaged 1.89 goals allowed during her freshman campaign.
Gebl was a two-time all-region selection as she was a second-team forward pick as a freshman. She is the first two-time all-region pick for the Lady Trojans since Kirilly Hughes earned all-region honors in 2017 and 2018.
Cooling, a sophomore midfielder, scored one goal and Makowka, a freshman, had one assist in the 2021 season that saw the Lady Trojans win a school record seven matches.
