NIACC's Werner, Williamson earn all-North Plains district honors
MASON CITY - NIACC sophomores Joey Werner and Brandon Williamson were two of 12 players selected to the 2018 all-NJCAA North Plains district team.
The North Plains district is made up of teams from NJCAA Region IX, XI and XIII.
Werner, an outfielder, hit .403 (71-176) with 12 doubles, five triples and eight home runs. Werner, who has signed to play at NCAA Division I Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, drove in 47 runs and walked 45 times.
Werner ranks third on the school's career walks list with 84 and is tied for seventh on career runs scored list with 106.
Williamson, a left-handed pitcher, was 8-4 with 104 strikeouts and 34 walks with a 3.14 earned run average in his sophomore season.
Williamson, who has signed with Texas Christian University and was drafted in the 36th round by the Milwaukee Brewers, is NIACC's career strikeout leader with 151.
Williamson also set the school's single-season strikeout record with his 104 Ks this season. He accumulated a career record of 12-5 with 151 strikeouts and 59 walks and a 3.44 ERA in 115 innings pitched.
