NIACC women place 4th at regional preview
ANKENY - The NIACC women's golf team placed fourth at the NJCAA Region XI preview Thursday at Otter Creek Golf Course with a 377.
Iowa Lakes won the five-team meet with a 346. DMACC and Southwestern tied for second with a 372 and Iowa Central was fifth with a 397.
Freshman Jordyn Barragy led the Lady Trojans with a 90, which matched her career-best.
"Jordyn Barragy had a nice day (Thursday)," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "Shooting a 44 on the front was a good way to get herself into a good scoring position."
Also, Sydney Fullerton shot a 92, Ashley Alert shot a 93 and Morgan Luecht shot a 104.
"As a team, we had a rough day putting, but that's kind of to be expected with the lack of practice this week due to the weather," Frenz said. "Ashley did an outstanding job of bouncing back from a disappointing opening 9 and shot 42 on the back."
The NIACC women wrap up their fall schedule Sunday and Monday at the Crossroads of America Ladies Juco Invitational in Wentzville, Mo.
"Going to St. Louis this weekend will be a nice way to end the fall season," Frenz said.
