NIACC shoots 378 at Crossroads of America tourney
WENTZVILLE, Mo. - The NIACC women's golf team shot a 378 on the first day of the Crossroads of America Ladies Juco Invitational on Sunday at the Golf Club of Wentzville.
Sydney Fullerton and Morgan Luecht led the Lady Trojans with a pair of 91s. Fullerton shot a 47 on the front and a 44 on the back and Luecht shot a 41 on the front and 50 on the back.
"We got out to a shaky start (Sunday) as we started on the back nine and those opening holes were tough on us," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "I was really impressed with how Morgan Luecht played on the front nine shooting a 41 after a very difficult first nine holes.
"Sydney has been steady all fall. Now, we just need her to shave about five to seven strokes and she'll be right there."
Jordyn Barragy shot a 97 (47-50) and Ashley Alert shot a 99 (51-48).
"Jordyn got off to a horrible start so I liked how she kept battling," Frenz said, "and Ashley is not feeling well at all, so I have to give it to her for just finishing (Sunday)."
The second day of the tournament is set for Monday.
First round team standings - Barton A 325, Augustana A 330, Iowa Lakes 334, John Logan 348, DMACC 366, McKendree 373, NIACC 378, Augustana B 418, Barton B 427.
