4 NIACC women earn 1st team all-ICCAC honors
MASON CITY - For the first time in school history, the NIACC women's basketball team has landed four players on the all-ICCAC first-team.
Earning first-team all-league honors for the league champion Lady Trojans (32-1 overall) were sophomores Autam Mendez and Kelcie Hale and freshmen Sierra Morrow and Sierra Lynch.
The Lady Trojans had three first-team all-league selections in 2013-14, 2017-18 and 2018-19.
Earning second-team all-ICCAC honors this season was freshman Sanaa Smith. Sophomore Miyah Walker and freshman Abby Leach were third-team all-league selections.
Mendez was selected as the region's player of the year. Morrow was the league's defensive player of the year and Todd Ciochetto was selected as the league's coach of the year.
Mendez, who was also a first-team selection as a freshman, averages 16.9 points per game. She also connected on 81 3-point goals with 245 rebounds, 64 steals and 55 assists.
Mendez currently ranks third on the school's career scoring list with 1,045 points, third on the school's career 3-point list with 164 and second on the school's career rebounding list with 538.
Hale, who was the MVP of the regional tournament, averages 10.2 points per game with a team-best 140 assists and 62 steals. Hale, who was a third-team all-league pick as a freshman, currently ranks seventh on the school's career assist list with 219.
Morrow averages 15.6 points per game and ranks second in NJCAA Division II with 153 blocks. Morrow leads the Lady Trojans with 257 rebounds.
Lynch averages 13.3 points per game with 133 rebounds, 104 assists and 70 steals.
Smith averages 6.7 points per game with 53 assists and 46 steals.
Walker averages 2.3 points per game with 73 rebounds, 39 assists and 37 steals.
Leach averages 6.8 points per game with 51 rebounds, 37 3-point goals, 17 blocked shots and 12 steals.
