NIACC men wrap up fall season at district preview
PANORA - The NIACC men's golf team wrapped up its fall season Tuesday at the NJCAA North Central district preview tournament at Lake Panorama National Resort.
NIACC placed ninth in the preview event with a 342-332 - 674. The Trojans were led by freshman Jackson Koebernick, who shot 83-82 - 165.
"It was a tough couple days for guys in really tough weather conditions," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said, "but you need to show mental toughness to get through days like these.
"I'm certainly not disappointed with our efforts the last two days, but the guys know they're better than the scores we put up."
Also for the Trojans, freshman Tim Castle shot 82-85 - 167, sophomore Bryce Malchow shot 88-82 - 170, freshman Anders Palmquist shot 89-83 - 172 and freshman Mitchell Staudt shot 90-93 - 183.
"I think, overall, the fall season was a good one for us," Frenz said. "We have mostly freshman on the team and I feel they adjusted pretty good to the college game throughout the progression of the season.
"We'll look forward to our off-season work and build off our successes this fall."
