Bio

McKayla Armbruster begins her first season as an assistant coach with the NIACC softball team in the 2024-25 season.

Armbruster will be the Trojans' pitching coach.

“Adding someone like McKayla is important to us continuing to compete in not only our league, but also in the country," NIACC head softball coach Matt Egger said. "We faced her last fall, she was tough and that’s what I hope she brings to our program. She also majored in Sports Psychology so not only are we bringing on a pitching coach with the credentials to back it up, we are also bringing on a coach who can provide additional support to our players.

In her senior season in 2024, Armbruster was 19-7 with a 1.92 earned run average. She struck out 142 batters in 160 1/3 innings of work.

As a senior, Armbruster was a first-team all-NISC selection and earned NSIC all-academic team of Excellence and CSC academic all-district honors.

In her prep career at Faribault, Minn., Armbruster accumulated 66 career wins with 909 strikeouts and a 0.90 ERA. She tossed 35 shutouts, six no-hitters and three perfect games. She was a first-team all-conference selection five times and was a three-time first-team all-state selection.

Arbruster led the state of Minnesota in wins, strikeouts and ERA in the 2017, 2018 and 2019 seasons.

Also as a prep, Armbruster finished with a career batting average of .365 with 160 hits, 26 doubles and 87 RBIs.

Armbruster was selected as Miss Minnesota Softball by the Minnesota All Sport Alliance in 2019 and was a Gatorade Player of the Year finalist.
