Courtney Thorne
  • Title:
    Strength & Conditioning Specialist (Softball)

Bio

Courtney Thorne is in her second year as strength and conditioning coach for the NIACC softball program in the 2023-24 school year.

Prior to joining the staff at NIACC, Thorne worked as a physical therapist assistant and strength and conditioning coach for both softball and track and field at the University of Northern Iowa from 2010-2015. While there, she received her Masters in Kinesiology after studying Movement and Exercise Science.

Thorne currently owns a performance coaching business Thorne Fitness and lives in Green Bay, Wis., with her husband and two children. Her background consists of training and competing in Olympic Weightlifting from 2010-2015, during that time qualifying and finishing top 3 at Collegiate Nationals and top 10 at the American Open and USA Nationals.

She currently is training remotely and in person with clients and athletes across the country.

“Courtney agreeing to be on staff is a game-changer for our program and the future of NIACC softball," NIACC softball coach Matt Egger said. "Having a former NCAA strength coach with experience in leading a sport-specific strength and conditioning program creates credibility for our team and I am excited to see them develop.

"It is a unique opportunity to have someone like Courtney, who has also competed across the country, work with our program.”
