NIACC women fall to Hawkeye CC, 2-1
WATERLOO - The NIACC women's soccer team bowed out in the semifinals of the NJCAA Region XI Division II tournament Wednesday with a 2-1 loss to Hawkeye CC.
Hawkeye CC took a 1-0 lead with a goal at the 31:09 mark of the first half.
NIACC (7-8) tied the match at 1-1 with a goal from 40 yards out from freshman Jette Busche with 30 seconds left in the first half. It was Busche's first career goal.
Hawkeye CC took the lead for good with a goal with 8:52 to play in the contest.
The seven wins by NIACC was the most by a Lady Trojan soccer team. The previous high win total was in the 2018 season when the Lady Trojans were 6-7-1
Hawkeye CC (9-4-2) will face top-seed Northeast CC (11-3-1) in the regional final at 1 p.m. on Sunday in Norfolk, Neb. No. 14 Northeast CC topped Southeastern 4-1 in the other regional semifinal on Wednesday.
