NIACC women stop SWCC, 83-70
MASON CITY - The NIACC women's basketball team topped Southwestern 83-70 in an ICCAC contest Saturday afternoon in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.
NIACC outscored the Spartans in each of the four quarters - 25-22 in the first quarter, 13-7 in the second quarter, 24-22 in the third quarter and 21-19 in the final 10 minutes.
NIACC (18-8 overall, 9-8 in the ICCAC) was led by Nora Francois with 21 points and 10 rebounds - her first career double/double.
The Trojans, who have won five straight contests, also received a double/double from Alyssa Hames, who scored 10 points and collected 10 rebounds.
NIACC's Kourtney Manning scored 17 points and had eight rebounds. Raven Kinnetz also reached double figures with 12 points and dished out six assists.
The Trojans' point guard Audrey Martinez-Stewart scored eight points with 10 rebounds, eight assists and three steals.
Southwestern (6-20, 6-11) was led by Alyssa Morris with a game-high 30 points. Natalia Bochenek also was in double figures for the Spartans with 13 points.
NIACC returns to action Monday at home in an ICCAC contest against DMACC. Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m. in the NIACC gym.
