NIACC stops Luther College JV, 85-71
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team topped the Luther College Junior Varsity 85-71 on Monday night in a non-conference contest in the NIACC gym.
NIACC (3-2 overall) was led by Wyatt Helming with 24 points, including 20 in the first half. Helming also had six rebounds, a career-high five steals and two assists.
Also for the Trojans, Omarion Roberts and Adam Hackett both scored 14 points and Marquel Newsome scored 13 points. It was the second straight game that Hackett has scored 14 points.
Roberts also contributed seven assists and a career-best four steals. Jordan Brown scored nine points with six rebounds and five assists and Carter Pataska collected a career-high five steals.
NIACC, which led 49-31 at the half, scored at least 80 points for the third time this season.
NIACC returns to action Friday and Saturday in West Plains, Mo. The Trojans face Missouri State University-West Plains at 7 p.m. Friday and play Link Year Prep Gold at 5 p.m. Saturday.
