NIACC women open season at Augustana Twilight
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The NIACC women's cross country team opened the season Friday night at the Augustana University Twilight meet.
NIACC was led by sophomore Lilly Stockberger, who placed 201st in a time of 21 mimutes, 41 seconds in the five-kilometer race.
For Stockberger, it was an improvement from the 2021 Augustana Twilight meet. In 2021, Stockberger ran 22:24 and placed 211th.
Also for the Trojans, freshman Maggie McBride was 287th (23:49), freshman Audrey Carrison was 301st (25:40), sophomore Madisyn Heller was 308th (26:43) and sophomore Mercy Melly was 313th (28:48).
NIACC placed 28th with 869 team points. South Dakota State was the team champion with 84 points.
Nebraska's Alea Hardie was the individual champion in a time of 17:00.
NIACC returns to action on Sept. 23 at the University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational in St. Paul, Minn.
