NIACC's Carlos places second at Luther Hill Open
INDIANOLA - NIACC sophomore Ein Carlos placed second in the open division at 184 pounds Saturday at the Simpson College Luther Hill Open.
Carlos, who placed fifth at 174 pounds at the 2022 NJCAA national tournament, moved to the finals with a 3 minute, 31 second fall of Benedictine College's Tyson Albright and a 5-0 decision of Grand View's Elijah Davis.
Carlos, who has a career record of 10-6 with four pins, dropped an 11-2 major decision to Grand View's Tyson Beauperthuy in the title match.
In the freshman/sophomore division at the Luther Hill Open, NIACC's Isaac Church was fourth at 141 and Ryan Van Donselaar was fourth at 165 and Cale Luthens was fifth at 174.
The Trojans' Drew Fox was sixth at 197.
Wrestling unattached in the freshman/sophomore division, Kamond Manning was second at 285, Cruz Aguilar was third at 125, Tanner Chase Warden was third at 165, Jaylin Smith was third at 197 and Emry Colby was fifth at 149.

Aguilar dropped his opening match on Saturday but won four straight matches to earn his third-place finish. Aguilar pinned William Penn's Corbin Grace in 1:49 in the third-place match.
Aguilar now has a career record of 15-7 with nine falls and three techincal falls.
NIACC opens its dual season on Tuesday at Indian Hills.
