Boerjan, Alert lead NIACC at Simpson Invite
INDIANOLA - Kirsten Boerjan shot a 84 and Alyssa Alert shot a 86 to lead the NIACC women's golf team at the Simpson College Invitational on Wednesday.
Boerjan tied for 10th in the individual medalist competition and Alert tied for 14th.
Also for the Trojans at the at Indianola Country Club, Karissa Hoon shot a 96, Emma Weiner shot a 98 and Sophie Lunning shot a 101.
"Kirsten Boerjan was determined to bounce back after a couple of bad holes," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said, "and she did an excellent job of managing the course.
"I was glad to see Karissa curt some strokes off her score from this weekend and she has more room to improve. I also really liked the fight of Emma Weiner (Wednesday). After a difficult front nine to come back and shoot 44 proves to me, and herself, that she has the game to compete at the college level."
The Trojans totaled a team score of 364 and placed sixth in the team standings.
Central College won the team title with a 331. William Penn University was second with a 335 and Waldorf University was third with a 342.
