NIACC women cruise past Ellsworth, 83-53
MASON CITY - The NIACC women's basketball team wrapped up its regular season with a 83-53 win over Ellsworth Wednesday night in the NIACC gym.
NIACC led 24-10 after the first quarter and outscored the Panthers 25-6 in the second quarter to take a 50-15 lead at the half.
NIACC was led by sophomore Kourtney Manning with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Also for the Trojans, sophomore Jackie Pippett scored 10 points with 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals. Freshman Kameron Jones scored 10 points with five assists and five steals.
Sophomore Audrey Martinez-Stewart scored nine points.
Wednesday was sophomore night for the NIACC women's basketball team. After the contest, sophomores I'sis Brown, Manning, Martinez-Stewart and Pippett.
Fourth-seed NIACC (18-11 overall, 9-7 in the ICCAC) opens NJCAA Region XI tournament play next Wednesday at home against fifth-seed DMACC. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 5:30 p.m.
