NIACC women fall to Northeast CC, 67-56
NORFOLK, Neb. - The NIACC women's basketball team dropped a 67-56 decision to Northeast CC on Saturday in an ICCAC contest.
NIACC (17-11 overall, 8-7 in ICCAC) led 14-9 after the first quarter, but Northeast CC outscored the Trojans 20-9 in the second quarter to take a 29-23 lead at the half.
Stevi Falls and Marta Pons led Northeast CC (16-11, 8-8) with 14 points each.
NIACC was led by sophomore post player Jackie Pippett with 22 points. Pippett also had seven rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots.
It was the second time this season that Pippett scored at least 20 points in a contest. She also scored a career-high 26 points at Ellsworth on Dec. 7.
Also for the Trojans, sophomores Kourtney Manning and Audrey Martinez-Stewart both scored eight points. Manning led the Trojans with 11 rebounds and Martinez-Stewart collected nine rebounds.
It was the eighth time this season that Manning has garnered double digit rebounds in a contest. Manning averages 6.7 rebounds per game, which ranks third in the ICCAC.
NIACC freshman Kameron Jones had five steals.
NIACC wraps up its regular season Wednesday at home against Ellsworth on sophomore night. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 5:30 p.m.
