NIACC women cruise, 85-54
MASON CITY - The NIACC women's basketball team rolled to a 85-54 victory over the Central College Junior Varsity Friday night in a non-conference contest in the NIACC gym.
NIACC jumped out to a 34-12 lead after the first quarter. The Trojans also had a productive third quarter as the they outscored the Dutch 23-8.
NIACC (14-10 overall) was led by sophomore point guard Audrey Martinez-Stewart with 19 points, six steals and four assists. Freshman Kameron Jones scored 18 points with six steals and five rebounds.
Also for the Trojans, who snapped a two-game losing streak, sophomore Kourtney Manning scored 16 points with four rebounds and four steals. Sophomore Jackie Pippett scored 14 points with three rebounds and two steals.
it was the 40th career win for third-year coach Brad Vaught, who has a career record of 40-35, as the Trojans improved to 10-2 at home in the 2022-23 season.
NIACC, which is 5-6 in the ICCAC, returns to action Saturday in an ICCAC contest at Marshalltown CC. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
