NIACC's Martinez-Stewart earns ICCAC weekly honor
MASON CITY - NIACC sophomore point guard Audrey Martinez-Stewart was selected as the ICCAC women's basketball player of the week for the week of Jan. 2-8.
Martinez-Stewart shared the weekly award with Iowa Western's Aleshia Jones and Ellsworth's Key'Lajaha Jefferson Putman.
It is the second time in her career that Martinez-Stewart earned ICCAC player of the week honors. She was also honored for the week of Jan. 31-Feb. 6, 2022.
It is the second time this season that a NIACC player has earned the ICCAC weekly honor. Sophomore Jackie Pippett was the weekly winner on Dec. 5-11.
Martinez-Stewart recorded a triple/double in NIACC's 84-55 win over Northeast CC. She scored 16 points with 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
Martinez-Stewart leads the ICCAC with 90 assists and 50 steals and ranks third in total rebounds (103).
Martinez-Stewart ranks ninth on NIACC's career assist list with 203. She also has scored 443 career points (57th on school's career list) with 255 rebounds (39th on school's career list) and 135 steals (17th on school's career list).
NIACC (11-5 overall, 4-1 in the ICCAC) returns to action Saturday at home against No. 3 Kirkwood (14-1, 4-0). Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 1 p.m.
