NIACC women stop Iowa Central, 70-51
MASON CITY - Kourtney Manning scored 22 points and Kameron Jones scored 21 points to lead the NIACC women's basketball team to a 70-51 victory over Iowa Central Wednesday night in the NIACC gym.
Manning, a sophomore, also collected 11 rebounds with four assists, three steals and two blocks. Jones had five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
NIACC, which trailed 15-13 after the first quarter, outscored Iowa Central 14-7 in the second quarter to take a 27-22 lead.
NIACC outscored Iowa Central 29-10 in the third quarter to take control of the contest and improve its overall record to 9-3 and its league mark to 3-0.
NIACC's Audrey Martinez-Stewart scored six points with nine assists, eight rebounds and four steals.
NIACC, which has won four straight contests, snapped a four-game losing streak to the Tritons.
Iowa Central was led by Aleaha Pommer with 11 points. Joria Hanselman scored 10 points for the Tritons.
NIACC returns to action Dec. 30 at the Luther College Junior Varsity.
