NIACC women roll past William Penn JV, 109-40
MASON CITY - The NIACC women's basketball team cruised to a 109-40 vicgtory over the William Penn Junior Varsity Tuesday night in the NIACC gym.
NIACC, which moved its record to 5-1, led 27-12 at the end of the first quarter and pushed its lead to 53-19 at the half. The 109 points by the Trojans is the most since they topped Minnesota West 101-76 on Dec. 30, 2021.
Freshman Grace Davis-Chavez led the Trojans with a career-high 22 points and a career-best 10 rebounds.
Also in double figures for the Trojans were Kameron Jones with 18 points, Kourtney Manning with 14 points, Jackie Pippett with 14 points and I'sis Brown with 12 points.
Sophomore Audrey Martinez-Stewart dished out a game-high nine assists, collected 12 rebounds and had four steals. Pippett also collected eight rebounds with five steals and three assists.
NIACC's Shakyla Walker had seven assists and Brown grabbed eight rebounds.
NIACC returns to action Saturday and Sunday at the Iowa Lakes Classic in Estherville. The Trojans face Central CC-Columbus on Saturday and take on Southeast CC on Sunday.
