ESTHERVILLE - The No. 16 NIACC softball team split an ICCAC doubleheader with Iowa Lakes on Monday.
Iowa Lakes snapped the Trojans' 15-game winning streak by taking the first game 10-0 in five innings. NIACC rebounded with a 10-0 five-inning win of its own in the second game.
In the second game, NIACC sophomore Laken Lienhard (17-2) tossed a one-hit shutout with four strikeouts and two walks. It was the eighth shutout of the season for Lienhard and 10th of her career.
Lienhard also homered in Monday's second game and drove in three runs. It was Lienhard's 26th career home run and 12th of the 2023 season.
NIACC's Emily Jones was 2 for 2 with two home runs and three RBIs. It was the third time this season that Jones, who has 13 home runs this season, hit two home runs in a single game.
Also for the Trojans in the second game, Katy Olive was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Brynnlin Kroyman homered and drove in two runs, Brianna McPoland was 3 for 4 and Sydney Toman was 2 for 4 with an RBI.
NIACC (33-9 overall, 17-3) wraps up its regular season Saturday and Sunday with a four-game series at home against No. 12 Kirkwood (36-13, 18-2).
Kirkwood leads the ICCAC Division II with its 18-2 mark and the Trojans are one game back with their 17-3 league mark.
