ESTHERVILLE - The No. 17 NIACC softball team swept an ICCAC doubleheader from Iowa Lakes Sunday pushing its winning streak to 15 games.
NIACC won the first game 9-7 in eight innings and completed the Sunday sweep with a 14-5 five-inning win in the second game.
In the 15-game winning streak that dates back to March 25, the Trojans have outscored their opponents 156-46.
In the first game, NIACC's Emily Jones hit a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game at 7-7. It was Jones' 11th home run of the season.
The Trojans (32-8 overall, 16-2 in the ICCAC) scored two runs in their half of the eighth inning to claim the game one victory.
NIACC's Laken Lienhard pitched a scoreless eighth inning to gain the win in relief. Lienhard was 3 for 4, incluidng a double and home run, with three RBIs.
The home run by Lienhard was the 25th of her career as she took over sole possession of first place on the school's career home run list. Lienhard was tied with Kaci Sherwood, who hit 24 home runs in the 2018-19 seasons.
Also for the Trojans in the opener, Taya Tucker was 2 for 4, including a double and home run, with two RBIs. It was Tucker's first home run of the season and second of her career.
In the second game, Lienhard (16-2) picked up her second win of the day. She allowed five runs on five hits with four strikeouts and two walks. She also collected two hits.
NIACC's Brynnlin Kroymann was 2 for 4, including a double, with two RBIs. Brianna McPoland and Tucker both collected two hits.
NIACC's Katy Olive stole three bases and Sydney Toman homered - her 14th of the season and 19th of her career.
NIACC and Iowa Lakes (27-15, 10-12) wrap up their four-game series on Monday. The first game of the twinbill is slated to start at 3 p.m.
