NIACC's Canton earns ICCAC weekly honor

MASON CITY – NIACC freshman Bryson Canton was selected as the ICCAC Division II cross country athlete of the week for the week of Oct. 3-9.

Canton, who prepped at Cedar Rapids Prairie, placed eighth last Saturday at the Mount Mercy Seminole Valley Stampede in his hometown of Cedar Rapids.

Canton clocked a personal-best eight-kilometer time of 26 minutes, 17 seconds to place eighth out of 174 runners.

Canton's 26:17 is tied for 21st on NIACC's all-time 8K list.

NIACC returns to action Friday at the Indian Hills Invitational in Ottumwa.
