NIACC's Canton earns top 10 finish
CEDAR RAPIDS - NIACC freshman Bryson Canton placed eighth on Satrurday at Mount Mercy's Seminole Valley Stampede 8-kilometer race.
Canton earned his eighth-place finish in a time of 26 minutes, 17 seconds, which is tied for 21st on NIACC's all-time 8K list. Canton's previous career best in the 8K was 27:35 at the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 23.
The Trojans placed 11th in the team standings with 305 points.
Host Mount Mercy was the team champion with 74 points.
Also for the Trojans on Saturday, Breyden Christensen placed 48th with a career-best 27:32, Alfred Kiptoo was 61st in a career-best 27:54, Jacob Vais was 118th with a career-best 29:42, Vlad Starrett was 131st in a career-best 30:03 and Kason Judisch was 157th in a career-best 31:35.
NIACC returns to action Friday at the Indian Hills Invitational.
