NIACC's Steene wins high jump at Mount Mercy
CEDAR RAPIDS - NIACC freshman Fabian Steene won the high jump Friday with a leap of 6 feet, 4 3/4 inches at Mount Mercy University's DeBacker Invitational.
It was the first time that Steene has claimed a high jump title in the outdoor season. He owns three second-place and one third-place finish in the outdoor season.
Steene was also 11th in the javelin with a toss of 126-10. NIACC's Matt Seberson was eighth in the javelin (130-6).
Seberson was fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 40-0 1/2 and eighth in the long jump (20-2 1/4).
NIACC's Bryson Canton was third in the 1,500 meter run in a time of 4:11.51 and Josiah Kliment was third in the 400 hurdles in a time of 56.45.
NIACC's Parker McHone was eighth in the 110 hurdles (16.34) and 10th in the long jump (19-10 3/4).
The Trojans' Vlad Starrett was fifth in the 5,000 in a time of 17:11. Hugo Massa was eighth in the 400 in a time of 51.93 and Bruce Huggins was ninth in the 200 (22.82).
NIACC placed fourth in the 4x100 meter relay in a time of 44.03 running Isaac Church, Huggins, Mohammad Sanyang and Perez Hemmings.
