NIACC's Canton qualifies for nationals in 1,000
MANKATO, Minn. - NIACC freshman Bryson Canton placed 10th in the 1,000-meter run Satuday at the Minnesota State-Mankato's Ted Nelson Classic.
Canton covered the 1,000 meters in a time of 2 minutes, 35.47 seconds, which qualified him for the NJCAA Division I national indoor track and field meet. The 2:35.47 ranks fifth on NIACC's all-time 1,000-meter list.
Canton also placed eighth in the mile in a time of 4:28.52, which ranks eighth on NIACC's all-time indoor mile list.
Also for the Trojans, Fabian Steene placed third in the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 4 inches.
In the 600, the Trojans' Hugo Massa placed sixth in 1:26.80 and Jacob Vais was eighth (1:27.45).
