Tucker leads NIACC past SWCC, 78-69
CRESTON - Sophomore Myles Tucker scored a career-high 42 points to lead the NIACC men's basketball team to a 78-69 victory over Southwestern Saturday afternoon in an ICCAC contest.
Tucker's 42 points ranks eighth on the NIACC's all-time single-game scoring list. The 42 points is the most in a game since Deundra Roberson scored 45 points against the Wartburg College Junior Varsity on Nov. 17, 2019 and the most in a league game since Walter Smith scored 46 points against Iowa Lakes in the 1973-74 season.
Tucker, whose previous career-high was 38 against Iowa Western earlier this season, was 13 of 26 from the field, including five 3-point goals, and was 11 of 15 from the free-throw line.
Also for the Trojans on Saturday, Jaydin Dunlap and Koen Derry both scored eight points and James Jennings scored seven points.
NIACC avenged a 67-66 loss to the Spartans earlier this season in the NIACC gym in Mason City.
Before Saturday, the last time the Trojans won at Southwestern was a 98-68 victory on Dec. 4, 2019.
NIACC (11-13 overall, 3-7 in the ICCAC) returns to action Feb. 4 at Kirkwood in an ICCAC contest. Game time in Cedar Rapids is slated for 3 p.m.
