NIACC completes sweep of Iowa Lakes
ESTHERVILLE - The NIACC baseball team wrapped up its regular season with a 3-2 eight-inning win over Iowa Lakes on Saturday.
The game was called after eight innings due to inclement weather.
NIACC (23-27 overall, 19-14 in the ICCAC) topped the Lakers 10-0 and 8-3 on Friday.
In Saturday's game, NIACC scored a single run in the first inning and plated two runs in the seventh inning. Iowa Lakes scored single runs in the fifth and eighth innings.
Five NIACC pitchers held the Lakers to two hits. Ollie Yuhas (1-3) gained the win in relief for the Trojans.
Zach Dohrmann recorded the final two outs in the eighth inning to gain the save for the Trojans.
NIACC's Luke Nordean was 2 for 3 with an RBI and scored a run. Brayden Hellum and Alex Berreth both drove in runs for the Trojans.
NIACC's Bennett McCollow was 1 for 4 collecting his 99th career hit. McCollow had 43 hits during his freshman campaign and ranks second on the squad this season with 56 hits.
NIACC will open play on Thursday in the opening round of the NJCAA Region 11 tournament in Burlington.
