NIACC falls to Iowa Central, 13-10

MASON CITY - The NIACC baseball team dropped a 13-10 decision to Iowa Central Sunday afternoon at Roosevelt Field.
No. 8 Iowa Central (39-9 overall, 20-8 in the ICCAC) pounded out 14 hits, including five home runs, to score its 13 runs. Evan Borst hit two two-run home runs and leadoff hitter Quade Peters was 5 for 6, including a three-run home run.
NIACC (18-27, 14-14) hit four home runs on a day that started with the temperature at 42 degrees with a wind blowing out with gusts up to 40 mph. Alex Berreth, Adam Berghult, Lincoln Berry and Kade Peloquin all homered for the Trojans.
Berry collected three hits while Berreth, Berghult and Peloquin all had two hits.
NIACC scored at least one run in five of its first six at-bats but the Trojans did not score a run in the final three innings.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday at home with a doubleheader against Indian Hills. The first game at Roosevelt Field is slated to start at 2 p.m.
