NIACC's Rosin earns NJCAA Division II pitcher of week award
MASON CITY – NIACC's Ben Rosin was selected as the NJCAA Division II pitcher of the week for the week of Apri 17-23 on Wednesday.
Rosin earned the ICCAC Division II pitcher of the week for the same week on Tuesday.
Rosin, a sophomore right-hander, took a no-hitter into the eighth inning of last Sunday's 6-5 win over Northeast CC. Rosin allowed no hits, one run with a career-best nine strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings of work.
Off NIACC relievers, Northeast CC took a 5-4 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth innings. The Trojans scored two runs in their last at-bat to claim the 6-5 walk-off victory.
Rosin (4-2) is second in the ICCAC with 58 strikeouts and has a 2.98 earned run average, which ranks fourth in the league.
Rosin is the first Trojan pitcher to earn the national pitcher of the week award since southpaw Collin Kramer won the award for the week of April 5-11, 2021.
NIACC returns to action Saturday and Sunday at home in a three-game ICCAC series against Iowa Central. The first game on Saturday at Roosevelt Field is slated for 1 p.m.
