NIACC's Rosin earns ICCAC pitcher of week honor
MASON CITY – NIACC's Ben Rosin was selected as the ICCAC Division II pitcher of the week for the week of April 17-23.
Rosin, a sophomore right-hander, took a no-hitter into the eighth inning of last Sunday's 6-5 win over Northeast CC. Rosin allowed no hits, one run with a career-best nine strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings of work.
Off NIACC relievers, Northeast CC took a 5-4 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth innings. The Trojans scored two runs in their last at-bat to claim the 6-5 walk-off victory.
Rosin (4-2) is second in the ICCAC with 58 strikeouts and has a 2.98 earned run average, which ranks fourth in the league.
Rosin is the second NIACC player to earn ICCAC weekly honors this season. John Doty was the league's player of the week for the week of April 3-9.
Rosin is the first pitcher to earn the pitcher of the week award since Connor Wietgrefe won the award for the week of April 25-May 1, 2022.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC doubleheader at Kirkwood in Cedar Rapids.
