NIACC's Doty earns ICCAC player of week honor
MASON CITY - NIACC sophomore John Doty was selected as the ICCAC Division II baseball player of the week for the week of April 3-9.
Doty, who is the first NIACC player to win the league award this season, shared the honor with Ellsworth outfielder Tanner Short.
Doty is the first NIACC position player to earn the league's weekly honor since Cole Fuecker won the award for the week of April 18-24, 2022.
Last week, Doty was 7 for 12 (.583) with a double, four home runs, 11 RBIs and scored seven runs.
In the Trojans' 34-5 win over Marshalltown CC, Doty was 2 for 4, including two home runs.
In the Trojans' 28-6 win over the Tigers, Doty was 4 for 4, including two home runs, with eight RBIs.
The sophomore first baseman is hitting .309 with seven homers and 25 RBI in 23 games played.
NIACC (13-18 overall, 9-5 in the ICCAC) returns to action Wednesday at home in a single-game nine-inning game against Kirkwood. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. at Roosevelt Field.
