Trojans stop DMACC, 9-4

CLARION - The NIACC baseball team completed a three-game sweep of DMACC on Monday with a 9-4 victory at the Clarion-Goldfield High School field.
NIACC won the first two games of the series on Sunday - 5-4 and 6-4.
In Monday's series finale, right-hander Austin Klug (2-2) gained the win for the Trojans. He allowed four runs on six hits with six strikeouts and one walk in six innings of work.
Klug allowed single runs in the first and second innings and two runs in the fifth frame.
NIACC (9-17 overall, 5-4 in ICCAC) did most of its damage offensively by plating six runs in the first inning. Tyler Froland plated two runs with a double and also scored later in the inning with a steal of home.
The Trojans also plated three runs in the fifth inning. Lincoln Berry plated two runs with a single.
Berry and Froland both had two hits for the Trojans.
NIACC's Jacob Crissinger, Joe Jarecki and Cooper Mollet all pitched one inning of scoreless relief to wrap up the three-game sweep of the Bears (15-14, 4-6). The three relivers combined to allow one hit with three strikeouts and one walk.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday against Ellsworth in an ICCAC twinbill in Marion.
