CLARION - The NIACC baseball team picked up an ICCAC doubleheader from DMACC Sunday at the Clarion-Goldfield baseball field.
NIACC (8-17 overall, 4-4 in the ICCAC) won the opener 5-4 and took the second game 6-4.
In the first game. NIACC scored one run in each of the first two innings and two runs in the third frame. The Trojans scored the game-winning run in the fifth inning on a home run from sophomore Bennett McCollow.
McCollow also homered in the first inning. It was the fourth career multi-homer game for McCollow, who has 18 career home runs (9th on school's career home run list).
McCollow was 3 for 3 with three RBIs. He also plated a run iwth an RBI double in the third inning.
NIACC's Lincoln Berry hit a solo home run in the second inning. Berry has six home runs this season and 11 career homers.
Carson Knebel (2-2) gained the win in relief for the Trojans. Knebel logged 2 1/3 scoreless innings allowing one hit with four strikeouts and no walks.
NIACC starter Zach Dohrmann pitched 4 2/3 innings allowed four runs (three earned) with four strikeouts and one walk.
In the second game, NIACC starter Ben Rosin (3-1) gained the win allowing three runs on six hits in six innings of work. Rosin struck out seven and walked two.
Jaiden Mollett picked up his first save of the season for the Trojans. Mollett allowed a run on a hit with two strikeouts and two walks in the ninth inning.
NIACC scored at least one run in its first four at-bats, including two runs in the second frame. The Trojans also plated a single run in the seventh inning.
McCollow was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Tyler Froland was 2 for 4, including a solo homer in the second inning - his second of the season.
NIACC's Eli Anderson collected two hits in the second game.
The two ICCAC squads wrap up their three-game series Monday with a single game in Clarion starting at 1 p.m.
