OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The NIACC baseball team dropped a non-conference twinbill to Johnson County CC on Sunday.
Johnson County CC, which has won 10 straight games, won the first game 12-2 and the Cavaliers took the second game 13-4.
In the first game, Johnson County (12-2) scored a single run in the second inning, two runs in the fifth inning and nine runs in the sixth inning. The Cavaliers sent 15 batters to the plate in their half of the sixth inning.
NIACC starting pitcher Austin Klug allowed one run in four innings of work.
NIACC scored a single run in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Adam Berghult.
The Trojans also scored a run in the seventh inning on a two-out opposite field home run by Eli Anderson, the first of his career.
In the second game, Johnson County CC leads 13-4 after seven innings. The Cavaliers broke open a 4-4 game with nine runs in the seventh inning.
NIACC had tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the seventh inning with a two-run home run from John Doty, who was 3 for 4 with three RBIs.
Johnson County scored two runs in the first inning off NIACC starter Fritz Meyer.
NIACC tied the game at 2-2 with two runs in the fifth inning.
Johnson County retook the lead 4-2 with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
NIACC (2-8) returns to action March 4-5 in a four-game series at Crowder College in Neosho, Mo.
