NIACC wins pair of matches at Iowa Central tourney
FORT DODGE - The NIACC volleyball team picked up a pair of victories at the Iowa Central tournament on Friday.
NIACC topped Carl Sandburg College 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 26-24) and stopped Rock Valley College 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-8).
"(Friday) was a fun day in the gym," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "After a couple of weeks of not always playing our game, we played with passion, purpose and as a team.
"We have a tough day again (Saturday) and we look forward to the challenge of playing consistently. We are very proud of their efforts (Friday)."
Sophomore Hannah Wagner led the Lady Trojans with 39 kills, 38 digs and six blocks in the two matches.
NIACC's Kennedy Meister had 15 kills with 37 digs, Connor Gauch had 29 digs and Sydney Roush had 39 assists and 23 digs.
Also for the Lady Trojans, Tessa Sienknecht seven kills and 11 digs, Ashley Groe 25 assists and 13 digs, Jamie Brenner had five blocks, Sarah Kimberly had eight blocks, four digs and three kills and Braylee Wood had eight blocks and seven kills.
NIACC returns to action Saturday with two more matches at the Iowa Central tournament. The Lady Trojans face Cowley CC at 11 a.m. and play the Grand View Junior Varsity at 3 p.m.
