NIACC falls to Southeastern, 3-2
MASON CITY - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision to Southeastern CC in an ICCAC match on Wednesday night in the NIACC gym.
Southeastern won 16-25, 25-23, 24-26, 25-20, 15-13.
Southeastern jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the fifth and deciding game by two points.
"Consistency was a huge issue (Wednesday) as we played with a new lineup," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "It's a tough way to lose but we can only learn and grow from this challenge."
NIACC was led by freshman Kennedy Meister with 25 kills, 16 digs and four blocks. Sophomore Hannah Wagner had 15 kills, 16 digs and four ace serves.
Also for the Lady Trojans, Sydney Roush had 21 assists and 10 digs, Connor Gauch had 31 digs, Ashley Groe had 18 assists and 12 digs, Jamie Brenner had five blocks and Sarah Kimberly had three blocks.
NIACC (10-5 overall, 1-2 in the ICCAC) returns to action Sunday at home against DCTC (2 p.m.) and the Grand View Junior Varsity (3:30 p.m.)
