NIACC falls to No. 12 Kirkwood
CEDAR RAPIDS - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 12 Kirkwood on Wednesday in an ICCAC contest.
The Eagles won 25-21, 25-23, 25-20.
"We lost to a very talented Kirkwood team," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said, "but played some of the best volleyball of our season.
"We learned a lot about our team and we are excited to get back in the gym to continue pushing us in the right direction."
NIACC (6-4 overall, 1-1 in the ICCAC) was led by sophomore Hannah Wagner with 11 kills, 10 digs and two blocks.
NIACC freshman Kennedy Meister had six kills and eight digs, Connor Gauch had 16 digs, Ashley Groe had 10 assists and seven digs and Sydney Roush had 10 assists and eight digs.
Also for the Lady Trojans, Shelby Heston and Sarah Kimberly collected four blocks each.
NIACC returns to action Friday and Saturday at the RCTC Yellowjacket Invitational. The Lady Trojans face Bismarck State College and the Bethel University junior varsity on Friday and play Williston State College and Central Lakes College on Saturday.
