Lady Trojans open home season against Southwestern
MASON CITY - The NIACC volleyball team opens its home and ICCAC season against Southwestern on Wednesday.
Match time is set for 7 p.m.
NIACC (2-2) opened its season last weekend at the Waubonsee CC Invitational in Illinois. The Lady Trojans topped Macomb CC and No. 12 McHenry County College and fell to Glen Oaks CC and Owens CC.
Southwestern (0-4) opened its season with four losses at the Southeast CC (Neb.) tournament.
Sophomore Hannah Wagner leads the Lady Trojans with 51 kills. Freshman Kennedy Meister is next in line with 34 kills and sophomore Shelby Heston has 28 kills.
NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: Freshman Tessa Sienknecht has joined the Lady Trojans' volleyball team. The outside hitter/defensive specialist started out the season as the squad's team manager.
OPENING NIGHT AROUND THE ICCAC: League play in the ICCAC starts Wednesday. Other ICCAC matches slated for Wednesday are Kirkwood at DMACC, Iowa Lakes at No. 9 Iowa Central, Hawkeye CC at Ellsworth and Northeast at Southeastern.
