NIACC's Parish places 6th in javelin
HOBBS, N.M. - NIACC's Kasey Parish placed sixth in the women's javelin at the NJCAA Division I national track and field meet on Saturday.
Parish, a freshman from South Victoria, Australia, earned her sixth-place finish with a toss of 40.72 meters. The sixth-place finished earned Parish USTFCCA all-American honors.
Parish is the second NIACC woman to earn all-American honors in the javelin. Sharon Toako was a national champion in 2014 and earned a second-place finish in 2015.
The Lady Trojans also earned USTFCCA all-American honors with an eighth-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay on Thursday in a time of 10:02.88. The Lady Trojans ran Cecelia Hemsworth, Ally Trager, Emma Davison and Ivy Rollene.
On Friday at the national meet, Davison was 18th in the 1,500 (5:09.48) and 23rd in the 800 (2:32.11).
The NIACC women tied for 26th place at the national meet with four points.
