NIACC's 4x800 team places 8th at nationals
HOBBS, N.M. - The NIACC women's 4x800 team of Cecelia Hemsworth, Ally Trager, Emma Davison and Ivy Rollene placed eighth at the NJCAA Division I national track and field meet Thursday night.
The Lady Trojans were eighth in a time of 10;02.88 to earn USTFCCA all-American honors.
The Lady Trojans are the first NIACC women to earn all-American honors since the 2015 team had four individuals (Adrine Monagi, Rellie Kaputin, Sharon Toako and Hannah Palmeter) earn all-American status.
This year's 4x800 team is the second outdoor NIACC women's relay team to earn all-American honors. The Lady Trojans' 2011 4x800 team of Sammy Nelson, Anna Buenneke, Kalyn Kruckenberg and Tanesha Edmond placed third at the national meet.
On Friday, Davison will run in the 1,500 prelims at 1 p.m. and will also compete in the 800 prelims at 3:10 p.m. Davison ranks 22nd in the 1,500 (4:58.58) and 26th in the 800 (2:23.66).
On Saturday, the Lady Trojans' Kasey Parish will compete in the javelin at 1 p.m. Parish ranks seventh in the javelin with a toss of 37.56 meters.
