NIACC women place third at Tiger Classic
FORT MADISON - The NIACC women's golf team placed second at the Iowa Wesleyan Tiger Classic on Tuesday with a 355.
Monmouth College was the women's team champion with a 328 on the Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course. Saint Mary of the Woods College was second with a 352.
NIACC was led by freshman Ashley Voves and Thea Lunning with a pair of 86s. Also for the Lady Trojans, sophomore Jordyn Barragy shot 91 and Abby Murray shot 92.
"I can't be more excited for Ashley Voves (Tuesday)," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "She's a great competitor and to finish the fall season with an 86, her best for the fall, is outstanding."
Voves' previous best round this fall was a 90 at the Simpson College Invitational.
Murray's 92 was also a career best for her. Murray's previous career low was a 95 at the NIACC Fall Invitational.
"Abby also played her best of the fall and should give us great confidence head ingo the off-season," Frenz said.
Frenz said he was pleased with his entire team's effort on Tuesday and the entire fall season.
"They've done a great job working hard on their game this fall," the coach said.
