No. 2 NIACC women face Cape Fear CC
HARRISON, Ark. - The No. 2 NIACC women's basketball team faces Cape Fear CC (North Carolina) at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the quarterfinal round of the NJCAA Division II national tournament.
Second-seeded NIACC moved to the quarterfinals with a 90-74 opening round win over 15th-seeded Wayne County CC on Tuesday afternoon. Freshman Mandy Willems led the Lady Trojans with 27 points, including eight 3-point goals.
Also for the Lady Trojans, freshman Jada Buford scored 16 points and freshman Autam Mendez scored 15 points.
Seventh-seeded Cape Fear CC (26-4) advanced to the final eight with a 91-55 win over Metropolitian CC on Tuesday.
The NIACC/Cape Fear winner faces the Kansas City (Kan.)/Pima CC winner in the semifinals at 6 p.m. on Friday. The two losers of the quarterfinal contest meet in the consolation round at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
NIACC last faced Cape Fear in the consolation round of the 2016 national tournament with the Sea Devils winning 109-99.
