NIACC women cruise past Southwestern, 103-54
MASON CITY - The NIACC women's basketball team cruised to a 103-54 victory over Southwestern in its regular season finale Saturday afternoon in the NIACC gym.
NIACC (24-6 overall, 11-3 in the ICCAC) led 34-8 after the first quarter and scored at least 100 points for the 11th time this season.
It was the fifth straight game that the Lady Trojans have scored at least 93 points.
Southwestern fell to 7-21 overall and 0-14 in the league.
Freshman Mikayla Homola led the Lady Trojans with 20 points and sophomore Taylor Laabs scored 14 points. Morgan Frank (11), Laker Ward (11), UU Longs (10) and Khalilah Holloway (10) also reached double figures for the Lady Trojans.
NIACC, which has won five straight games, was 22 of 54 from 3-point range. Homola and Laabs both made four 3-point goals.
NIACC opens NJCAA Region XI tournament play Wednesday at home against Ellsworth (8-21, 2-12). Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. in the NIACC gym.
NIACC swept the season series against Ellworth. The Lady Trojans won 89-46 on Jan. 24 in Mason City and won 99-70 on Feb. 21 in Iowa Falls.
